Spring Forward

busy BUSY busy and SICK is how I would describe myself lately. And this week was full of even more busyness. I've had a weird flu thing with a 102 temp, (everyone is getting sick!), and have still been having difficulties sleeping. But on a super positive note: last friday I got to observe my class for the first time. It was really insightful and fun. It is a 3-5 grade classroom. They all work at their own pace and their main topics include, writing, math, and reading. It is a new concept and it is the school's first year teaching the class in this way, so there are a lot of gaps, but overall it seems to work out really well. At recess the girls invited me to play tether ball with them. Mind you, I was terrified of tether ball when I was younger because I would always get hit. So when these little 3-5 graders asked me to play I was really apprehensive. I got in line and talked with the girls who were thrilled that I had decided to play with them. When my turn came it was ridiulous, I couldn't hit the ball but after a few times I got pretty good. So I faced a lingering fear of tether ball and got to know some really cool kids. They were so sweet. One girl said, "So you will be a real teacher in two years?" And I said "Yes, I'll be student teaching." And she looked all excited and said, "You can teach me 6th grade then!" It was a really fun experience I am looking forward to spending my fridays there.
Other than that I just got done with some HUGE tests, essays, labs, and projects. And I am exhausted! Spring forward is really killing me as lame and sissy as that sounds. Arizona does not have this random time change. I miss my extra hour! :) I miss all of you guys and can't wait to see some of you soon. I am off to take a glorious much needed nap!
